  2.                      Die Internet FilmDatenbank (IMDB)

  6. 1. Was ist die MovieDatabase?
  7. =============================

  9. Die 'MovieDatabase' ist ein internationales Projekt auf freiwilliger Basis,
  10. das von der USENET Newsgroup rec.arts.movies koordiniert wird.  Ziel dieses
  11. Projektes  ist  die  *kostenlose*  Bereitstellung  von  möglichst aktuellen
  12. Filminformationen auf möglichst vielen verschiedenen Computersystemen.
  13.  
  14. Gegenwärtig  enthält die 'MovieDatabase' Informationen über mehr als 40.000
  15. Filme  und  Fernsehserien  mit  über  470.000  Querverweisen und sie wächst
  16. täglich.
  17.  
  18. Die    Datenbank   enthält   Einträge   für   Schauspieler   (actors)   und
  19. Schauspielerinnen  (actresses)  zum  Teil mit Ihren Rollennamen, Regisseure
  20. (directors),    Drehbuchautoren    (writers),    Komponisten   (composers),
  21. Kameraleuten  (cinematographers),  Schnitt  (editors),  Bauten  (production
  22. designers),   Kostüme  (costume  designers)  und  Produzenten  (producers).
  23. Desweiteren    Zusatzinformationen    wie    Kurz-Zusammenfassungen   (plot
  24. summaries),   Bewertungen   (movie   ratings),  Erscheinungsjahr  (year  of
  25. release), Laufzeit (running time), Hintergrundinformationen (movie trivia),
  26. Filmzitaten    (quotes),    Pannen   (goofs),   Soundtracks,   Biographien,
  27. internationalen Auszeichnungen und vieles vieles mehr.

  29. Bei  mehr  als 5100 Filmen sind die kompletten Cast-Abspänne abrufbar - von
  30. den Hauptdarstellern bis zur kleinsten Nebenrolle.

  32. Neben  den  bekannten  amerikanischen  "main-stream"-Filmen  enthält  diese
  33. Filmdatenbank  außerdem  Informationen  zu  vielen  tausend  deutschen (und
  34. anderen  ausländischen) Filmproduktionen, beginnend mit Stummfilmklassikern
  35. bis hin zu aktuellsten Filmen.

  37. In  der  lesbaren ASCII-Form hat die Datenbank einen Umfang von mehr als 26
  38. MByte.   Alle Einträge stammen von den Benutzern der 'MovieDatadase', jeder
  39. kann  neue  Einträge  einsenden  und  so  zum  Wachsen  der Datenbank aktiv
  40. beitragen.

  43. 2. Voraussetzungen
  44. ==================

  46. MovieMUI  3.1  sollte  auf  allen  Amigas  ab KS 2.0 laufen.  Natürlich muß 
  47. auch  Stefan  Stuntzs  Magic-User-Interface  "MUI"  installiert sein (siehe
  48. docs).   Ein  schneller  Prozessor und eine schnelle Festplatte erhöhen das
  49. Vergnügen  in  den  Filmdaten  zu wühlen.  Zum Erstellen der Datenbank wird
  50. kurzfristig  knapp 55 MB freier Platz auf der Platte benötigt (es geht auch
  51. mit  weniger - siehe Anleitung).  Fertig installiert benötigt die Datenbank
  52. etwa  26  MB.   Ausserdem  muss, nachdem MovieMUI 3.1 gestartet wurde, noch
  53. mindestens 800KByte freier Speicher "am Stück" vorhanden sein.

  55. Ansonsten  werden  vom Benutzer lediglich Englischkenntnisse vorausgesetzt.
  56. Da  sich  bei  diesem  Projekt  Filmbegeisterte aus vielen Ländern der Erde
  57. beteiligen, ist die komplette Datenbank, sowie die gesamte Dokumentation in
  58. Englisch  gehalten.   Allerdings  reicht  ein  einfaches  Schulenglisch zum
  59. Bedienen   des   Programms   völlig   aus.    Lediglich   beim   Lesen  der
  60. Kurzzusammenfassungen  (plots)  oder  den Hintergrundinformationen zu einem
  61. Film (trivia) kann der Griff zum Wörterbuch notwendig werden.

  63. Bei  mehr  als  3300 ausländischen Produktionen ist außer dem Originaltitel
  64. noch  der  deutsche  Verleihtitel  abrufbar.   Wer  also  nur den deutschen
  65. Filmtitel kennt, braucht nicht zu verzweifeln.

  68. 3. Installation
  69. ===============

  71. Die Installation ist eigentlich recht einfach.  Wer genügend Platz (>55 MB)
  72. auf  seiner  Platte  frei hat, braucht nur das Installer-script zu starten.
  73. Wer  weniger  Platz  zur  Verfügung  hat,  kommt  leider um ein Studium des
  74. entsprechenden  Kapitels  in  der  Dokumentation  ("MovieMUI.guide")  nicht
  75. herum.

  77. Ich  empfehle allerdings allen Neulingen zuerst ein gründliches Studium der
  78. kompletten   Anleitung  ("MovieMUI.guide"  &  "MovieDatabase.guide").   Sie
  79. sollte die meisten auftretenden Fragen und Probleme klären.
